Constant innovation is the achievement that makes our IT-branch so special. Without innovation there is no growth – neither in technology-development nor in the improvement of yield potential. In the past years there has been a lot of improvement, especially in the hardware-field. At first the technology of steering systems was quite simple. They had GPS-receivers with eight channels that with a precision of 20 m were not very accurate in comparison to modern technology. Step-by-step an innovative automatic-steering-system has evolved from this. Now even machines with a width of up to 12 m can be steered with a 2 cm-precision. Autopilot steering systems are going to be the next step. In the field of unmanned flying objects, the so-called drones, the development is just as fast. Just a few years ago drones were only a hobby but now they are equipped with various different sensors for the analysis of different areas. They are being used in many different branches: precision agriculture, analyzing the damages of natural disasters or fire for insurance-companies and even populations of wild animals can be detected with their help.
In site-specific farming there is the tendency to use several application-maps with data on soil-fertility, -humidity and -texture. That way different requirements, for example for fertilizers and seed-application, can be regulated simultaneously but independently.
With these innovations we have a great deal of influence in precision agriculture, as well in software as also in the hardware-branch. We provide interesting possibilities for action and development in various disciplines.
